Christmas card from a hooker in Minneapolis – Tarjeta navideña de una prostituta en Minneapolis

Traducción: (por Leandro Fanzone)

hey charlie i’m pregnant
and living on the 9th street
right above a dirty bookstore
off euclid avenue
and i stopped takin dope
and i quit drinkin whiskey
and my old man plays the trombone
and works out at the track
and he says that he loves me
even though its not his baby
and he says that he’ll raise him up
like he would his own son
and he gave me a ring
that was worn by his mother
and he takes me out dancin
every saturday night.and hey charlie i think about you
everytime i pass a fillin station
on account of all the grease
you used to wear in your hair
and i still have that record
of little anthony & the imperials

Common People – Gente Común

Traducción: (por Leandro Fanzone)

She came from Greece she had a thirst for knowledge
She studied sculpture at St Martin’s college
That’s where I….
Caught her eye
She told me that her Dad was loaded
I said “In that case I’ll have rum and coca-cola.”
She said “Fine,”…..
And then in thirty seconds time she said”I want to live like common people
I want to do whatever common people do
I want to sleep with common people
I want to sleep with common people like you.”

Oh what else could I do?
I said “I’ll see what I can do.”

I took her to a supermarket
I don’t know why, but I had to start it somewhere
So it started …. there
I said “Pretend you’ve got no money.”
But she just laughed an said “Oh you’re so funny.”
I said “Yeah?
Well I can’t

Masters of War – Señores de la Guerra

Traducción: (por Leandro Fanzone)

Come you masters of war
You that build all the guns
You that build the death planes
You that build the big bombs
You that hide behind walls
You that hide behind desks
I just want you to know
I can see through your masks
You that never done nothin’
But build to destroy
You play with my world
Like it’s your little toy
You put a gun in my hand
And you hide from my eyes
And you turn and run farther
When the fast bullets flyLike Judas of old
You lie and deceive
A world war can be won
You want me to believe
But I see through your eyes
And I see through your brain
Like I see through the water
That runs down my drain

You fasten the triggers
For the others to fire
Then you set

Bulgaria

This is a small collection of pictures from the trip we made to Bulgaria on 2000.

We have some friends in Bulgaria (Ina and Marty) so we went there a couple of times and we spent a wonderful time. Though Bulgaria is a beautiful country to visit, I have no idea how a regular tourist could do it, as it is not very touristic friendly in general terms. We rented a car with our friends and followed them to a great variety of places, all of them fascinating. Sofia, the capital city, has no great things to offer, and all the fun is in the rest of the country. The first place to visit is very near from Sofia, an ancient monastery in the Rila (Рила) mountains. The monastery is very well preserved, and the frescoes are awesome. The contrast between the colourful paintings, the black …

Grand Theft 2000

‘Grand Theft 2000: Media Spectacle and a Stolen Election’, by Douglas Kellner
(Lanham, Maryland: Rowman and Littlefield,
ISBN 0-7425-2103-6, paperback, xxi + 242 pp., European price approx. EUR 29.38

As historical amnesia is one of the more unfortunate phenomena of our time, those with truncated memories may already have forgotten the chequered saga of the United States’ Election 2000, with its paraphernalia of superannuated voting machines and hanging, dimpled and pregnant chad – let alone the bizarre spectacle of the planet’s sole superpower suddenly falling victim to ‘banana-republic’ gibes. It does immediately have to be added that, less than a year later, the tragic events of 9-11 intervened, casting the Bush presidency in a different light. However, some still believe that nothing that happened afterwards, however appalling in itself, can actually erase the significance of the US Supreme Court decision of 12 December 2000; and for …

“A moon shaped pool” (Radiohead)

“A moon shaped pool” permite hacer …
