Subcommander Marcos, the Zapatista leader of the EZLN, in the Forum to Defend Human Kind that is taking place in Mexico these days:

Politicians have become shopkeepers who serve to the money owners, and the democratic elections are not meant to choose a government, but to choose shopkeepers. It's not even about building a good or bad government these days, but to take care of the shop and render good results to their master: the global money. In the goverments of the countries broken by the power globalization, there are no politicians but shopkeepers.
